Gemini 4 Argon is out: tasks mode and 40+ app connections

Google put Gemini 4 Argon in the Gemini app and the paid Gemini API on October 13. Who can use it today, what tasks mode does, and what Google hasn't said.

Google released Gemini 4 Argon to developers and to the Gemini app on October 13 6. In the app, it is for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, starting the same day 1.

Tasks mode

The bigger change for business owners is a toggle from chat to tasks. Google says that when you choose tasks, Gemini can keep working while you are away from your computer, across your Google apps and others 2.

Google also says Gemini now connects to more than 40 apps, naming Instacart, OpenTable, Adobe and Shopify 3. A Shopify connection is the one to watch if you sell online, but Google's post does not list what Gemini is allowed to do inside each app.

How it answers

Google says Argon answers more directly with less hedging, repeats itself less, and skips clichés 4. That is Google's description, not a test result.

For builders

Developers can use Argon through the paid tier of the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio 5. Google's two posts do not list API prices. Some outlets have reported introductory rates, but we could not confirm them on a Google page, so we are not repeating them here.
