This guide answers the questions people ask most about Grok Bot. We ranked them by how often they came up on the Cursor forum, on X and in search suggestions in October 2026. Every fact links to the official page it came from, and the date we checked it is at the top.
It is for people who already picked Grok Bot and want to use it without surprise bills or lost work. It is not an official xAI or Cursor page.
1. What it costs and which plan you need
On The X Subscription, Grok Bot comes with Premium, Super and Ultra. Plus and Free don't include it.
| Plan | Price | Grok Bot? |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | No |
| Plus | $8/month | No |
| Premium | $30/month | Yes |
| Super | $100/month | Yes, bigger weekly pool |
| Ultra | $200/month | Yes, bigger weekly pool |
The pricing page recommends Premium for new AI users, Super for daily agent users and Ultra for power users.
Older Cursor plans (Pro, Pro+, Ultra, Teams) also include Grok Bot. Individual SuperGrok plans can be linked from the Grok Bot plan screen. SuperGrok Lite is not included.
Buy only from the official site. The pricing page says subscriptions are sold only by X Subscription Corp, and no resellers are authorized.
2. Why your usage runs out so fast
- One shared weekly pool. Grok Bot uses the same weekly pool as Cursor and the Grok apps. It is not a separate Grok Bot meter. The pool refreshes every week.
- You pay for work, not messages. Usage is measured by agent steps and tokens, not by how many messages you send. Bigger and longer jobs use more.
- "I hit my usage limit" doesn't mean it's broken. Your weekly usage is used up. It resets each week.
To make it last:
- Start a new chat for each new task instead of one endless chat.
- Give one clear job with a clear finish line.
- Check usage in Grok Bot under Settings › Usage & Billing. Your SuperGrok meter in the Grok app is a separate number.
3. Stop surprise charges
- Auto Top-up is off until you turn it on. When it's on, it charges your saved card whenever your balance drops below your threshold.
- Leave Auto Top-up off if you never want extra charges. Extra usage then stops when your weekly pool and any credit you bought are used up.
- Set a monthly additional usage limit. When you reach it, extra usage pauses until next month, even if you still have credit. That is the usual reason for "I paid and I'm still blocked."
- Bought credit expires 365 days after purchase.
- Bought in the iPhone or Android app? Apple or Google handles it. Cancel in your phone's subscriptions settings. Cursor can't refund store purchases.
Top-ups and limits live at grok.com/dashboard/billing under Additional usage credits.
4. It's not working: the fix order
Go in this order. Stop as soon as it works.
Step 1 — Wait, then Retry
If you see Reconnecting or Couldn't Reach Grok Bot's Computer, wait, then choose Retry. Your bots, files and logins are safe while it reconnects. Do not Reset during this.
Step 2 — Fully quit and reopen
On a Mac, choose Quit from the menu bar. Closing the window isn't enough.
Step 3 — Update
Open Settings › Computer and update if one is offered.
Step 4 — Recover
Recover saves what it can, then builds a new computer. Installed apps and packages are removed. Very recent changes can be lost if the computer can't be reached.
Step 5 — Reset, only last
Reset rebuilds from your last saved data. It can lose recent changes too. If your bots recently disappeared, contact support before you Recover or Reset.
5. Sign-in and accounts
All my bots disappeared after switching to The X Subscription. Cursor support says the bots are safe. The account switch can leave your bots on one account and your plan on another. Support asks you not to reset the bot computer, delete anything, or buy a second subscription. Post in the forum thread or contact support, and watch for a second charge.
Fingerprint, Face ID and passkeys don't work on the bot's computer. It's a cloud computer, not your laptop. You sign in there yourself with a password and code, or a push approval on your phone.
6. Installing templates safely
A template shares a bot as "a recipe, not a clone." It packages the bot's instructions, skills, memories and first-party plugins. Secrets and private information are not included.
Before you install one:
- ☐ Read the details, context and integrations. Make sure everything is what you expect.
- ☐ Treat it like installing software from a stranger.
- ☐ Remember it will run on the same computer as all your other bots (see section 8).
Known bug (October 2026): Cursor staff confirmed that skills shown in a template's preview sometimes don't arrive on the imported bot. After installing, check that the skills are actually there.
7. Connecting apps
- Select Connect apps in the sidebar, or follow an in-chat Connect card.
- Search for the app and add it.
- Finish the Authorize sign-in in your browser. If it stalls, choose Reconnect.
- Confirm the app shows under Installed.
App connections belong to the account you signed in to Grok Bot with. A work Google account may need an IT admin to trust Grok first.
8. What all your bots share, and staying safe
All your bots share one computer. After you sign in to something, every bot on your account can use that sign-in until it expires.
xAI's own advice: "Do not use separate Bots as a security boundary."
- ☐ Don't sign in to an account on the bot's computer if any of your bots shouldn't use it.
- ☐ Keep banking and personal email off the bot's computer unless you truly need them there.
- ☐ Save secrets with the secure secret card, never in chat or in a file.
- ☐ In requests, say what it must not do. For example: "Draft it. Don't send or change anything. Ask me first."
9. Which Grok is which, and scams
- Grok is the chat app.
- Grok Bot is the agent that works on its own cloud computer.
- Any "$GROKBOT" token or airdrop isn't part of the product. Ignore those posts.
Plans are sold only through the official site.
10. How approvals work
When a bot needs permission, it stops and shows an approval card. Nothing runs until you choose.
- Allow once lets that one action go ahead.
- Always allow saves a rule for next time.
- Deny blocks it.
An approval in a chat you're in waits for you. An approval from work that started without you (a routine, a trigger, or another bot) expires after about 10 minutes. It then shows Expired and the action doesn't run. Ask the bot to try again.
Don't approve anything you can't explain. Ask the bot to explain it in plain words or make a draft first.
